July 4, 2023Bangladesh is preparing to finalize an agreement with Saudi company Red Sea Gateway Terminal (“RSGT”) Company to oversee, upgrade, and expand operations at the Patenga Container Terminal in Chittagong Port. In 2021, the Chittagong Port experienced unprecedented activity, handling an impressive 3.2 million TEUs of cargo, solidifying its position as the busiest port in the Bay of Bengal. This port acts as the primary gateway for 90% of Bangladesh’s imports and exports, underscoring its crucial role in facilitating the country’s trade.
With its extensive expertise, RSGT Company will also be entrusted with operating additional port terminals. Notably, RSGT Company operates the RSGT, which is a cutting-edge container terminal in the Jeddah Islamic Port.
