Customs Duty Relief on the Importation of Fuel-Powered Vehicles

June 11, 2025

To support the country’s economic recovery, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, the Ministry of Planning and Finance issued Notification No. 39/2025 dated 4 June 2025 to provide relief from customs duty on the importation of fuel-powered vehicles.

Under the Myanmar Customs Tariff 2022 (“MCT 2022”), passenger cars imported under the completely built-up (“CBU”) system faced high tariff rates, while those imported under the semi-knocked down (“SKD”) and completely knocked down (“CKD”) systems, as well as imported auto parts and motorcycles under all three systems were subject to low to moderate rates. With the release of this notification, the government has lowered almost all rates, most notably for vehicles imported under the CBU system.

The new rates are valid for one year from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.

The table below provides a comparison of the rates under the MCT 2022 and the new rates.
